The necessity of implementing public-private partnership mechanisms as an instrument of public policy in the field of forest resource management is substantiated. The role of the regional level in the restoration of damaged territories, development of the processing industry, and attraction of investments is determined. The main directions for implementing “green” public-private partnership projects are outlined, including forest land restoration, bioenergy development, and the introduction of digital monitoring systems. Long-term operation of skid trails without proper maintenance leads to the transformation of ruts into deep gullies and ravines, removing 50 to 200 m³ of soil per kilometer of trail per season. Based on field research, classifications of erosion disturbances and damage degrees have been developed. The methodology of technical measures (deep ripping to 60 cm, convex cross‑section shaping, drainage structures, mulching) and bioengineering structures (live stakes, fascines, brush layers) is described in detail. Field testing results showed cutting survival of 78%, a 12‑fold reduction in soil loss, and soil density stabilization at 1.28-1.35 g/cm³. Using a rank sum method, weight coefficients were determined for 20 operational parameters, with the traction force utilization coefficient and specific energy consumption identified as priorities. A comparative analysis of four technological equipment alternatives (A1-A4) was conducted. Simulation results and sensitivity analysis (weight variation ±20%) confirmed the stability of the ranking, identifying the electro-hydraulic drive with an adaptive cable tension control system as the most effective (<em>AS</em> = 0.872). The aim of the work is to reduce the mass of parts without compromising stiffness and to improve their fatigue life by enhancing the convergence of the classical SIMP method. The FA‑SIMP algorithm integrates the acceleration step (lookahead) into the classical SIMP scheme, allowing gradients to be computed in a more promising optimization direction. A numerical experiment was conducted using a 2D plane-stress beam model (340×80&nbsp;mm, thickness 10 mm) made of steel (E=210 GPa, ν=0.30), loaded with a concentrated force of 5.0 kN at a prescribed material volume of 40%. The finite element mesh consisted of 7200 elements. The results showed that, for 120 iterations, FA‑SIMP reduces structural compliance (C=7.181&nbsp;J vs. 7.206&nbsp;J) and reduces the von Mises peak stress by 2.64% (159.09 MPa vs. 163.4 MPa) compared to the classical SIMP. The grey index of the final topology decreased from 0.1964 to 0.1591, which simplifies the transition to manufacturing documentation. Implementing the FA‑SIMP method in the design practice of load‑bearing elements of forest machinery can reduce the specific ground pressure, fuel consumption and carbon footprint of timber harvesting operations, which is consistent with the principles of sustainable forest management.</p> Roman Pyshka Borys Bakay Copyright (c) 2026-05-07 2026-05-07 MACROECONOMIC STABILITY IN UKRAINE: A PEST-BASED ANALYSIS OF THREATS https://conf.nltu.edu.ua/index.php/nltu150/article/view/512 <p>This study examines macroeconomic stability in Ukraine under contemporary challenges. It uses PEST-analysis as a tool for the systematic assessment of the external environment. The study synthesizes key political, economic, social, and technological factors. These factors shape the current state and future prospects of macroeconomic stability in the country within the context of Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 17. The political component shows that the security situation remains a key driver of economic dynamics. Military risks and related uncertainty significantly limit investment activity. They also complicate budget planning. The economic analysis shows that Ukraine’s macroeconomic stability depends largely on public finances. Inflationary pressures arise from rising energy costs, disrupted supply chains, and monetary imbalances. These processes reduce household purchasing power and weaken business activity. The social dimension of macroeconomic stability highlights long-term challenges relating to demographic change and labor market transformation. The technological component of the PEST analysis reveals both constraints and development opportunities. Significant damage to critical infrastructure, especially energy and transport systems, disrupts production processes and logistics. Dependence on imported technologies in strategic sectors increases the economy’s vulnerability to external shocks. The findings indicate that macroeconomic stability in Ukraine emerges from a complex interaction of external and internal factors. High political and security risks combine with structural economic imbalances and persistent social challenges. The authors substantiate the need to transition from a linear consumption model to a circular economy paradigm, which involves minimizing waste generation, expanding recycling and reusing resources. Particular attention is paid to a comparative analysis of Ukrainian legislation with EU directives, in particular on the implementation of the waste management hierarchy and extended producer responsibility. The paper identifies key barriers to sustainable waste management in Ukraine: the lack of modern sorting infrastructure, low level of investment support and critical accumulation of waste in landfills. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of recommendations for the transformation of municipal waste management systems through the involvement of green financing, digitalization of monitoring and the introduction of innovative recycling technologies. The research is based on empirical data from a furniture enterprise for the period 2022–2024 and focuses on identifying efficient pathways for waste valorization. A material flow analysis combined with a mass-balance model was applied to evaluate waste streams and their allocation to reuse routes, including mechanical recycling, panel production, and bioenergy. The results indicate a significant reduction in total waste generation from 54.80 m3 in 2022 to 30.48 m3 in 2024 (–44%), mainly due to improved processing efficiency and optimized cutting strategies. Solid offcuts decreased by 44%, while sawdust and shavings showed reductions of 47% and 45%, respectively. The proposed utilization model ensured approximately 95% landfill diversion, with 28.95 m3 redirected to secondary use streams. The economic assessment demonstrated a total annual effect of approximately UAH 0.25 million, primarily driven by mechanical reuse (≈89% of total margin). The energy recovery potential from fine fractions reached 11.35 MWh/year, with avoided CO2 emissions ranging from 2.29 to 3.86 tons depending on substitution scenarios. The novelty of the research lies in integrating cascade wood utilization with an enterprise-level material balance model that aligns technological, economic, and environmental parameters. The classification is based on the approach of R. S. de Groot et al. (2012), and each category includes a corresponding set of functions.
