SOCIAL ASPECTS OF FOREST RESTORATION AFTER NATURAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC DISTURBANCES

Keywords: social forestry, forest restoration, forest ecosystems, participation of local communities, sustainable forest management.

Abstract

It is substantiated that the effectiveness of forest restoration measures largely depends on the level of participation of local communities, trust in institutions and the quality of communication between stakeholders. The role of social justice, conflicts of interest and cultural factors in the processes of forest ecosystem restoration is highlighted. Special attention is paid to the Carpathian region. The need to integrate social, economic and environmental approaches to ensure sustainable forest management is shown.
